Being in the CPA industry is hard for a variety of reasons. Lack of talent? yes. Too many hours? yes again. Sacrificing healthy, family, balance? Depends on your point of view.

This blog is a place for me to share my experiences as being a woman, a CPA, a mother, among other things. There are only so many of us that reach for Partner in a CPA firm and those that do struggle alone most of the time. Some have amazing friends, family, coworkers and support throughout their career - I am not saying it cannot happen. My journey has been more difficult. At times, I wish I had a place to read about other women who were experiencing what I was. Know I was not alone in this struggle. Know that it is ok to be smart, driven, vulnerable, emotional, and authentically myself. This blog is dedicated to the complex and diverse role we all have in life, but also in how we face it with positivity and grace (most of the time).

Let's start this journey with a little bit about me. I am almost 40, have 2 amazing kids, a very supportive spouse and am a partner at a national firm. My specialty is tax, and I am one of those people that wants to know and understand EVERYTHING. I have been told more times than I can count that I am too young, inexperienced, have a lot to learn, etc. As I am finally hitting the point in my career where people are starting to see I do not give up and that I can and will achieve whatever I reach for, it is kind of coming together. Some days, anyway.

So why read this? Great question! Maybe for comradery, maybe for ideas on how to make this work for you, maybe because of my sparkling personality. Maybe because like me, you are a creative soul that looks for an outlet to share thoughts, feelings, hard work and experiences. Whatever the reason, thank you. Just knowing anyone takes the time to read what I write is more than I could ever ask for.
